Shift or surprise: here are the municipalities in which the elections have a particular stake

In certain municipalities, the elections this Sunday will be followed very closely.

Because two of the candidates have insulted each other a lot on television sets and via media in recent days, the city of Mons particularly attracts attention. The duel between Georges-Louis Bouchez, the president of the MR and head of the Mons list against Nicolas Martin, the socialist, mayor’s list and current mayor of Mons will be particularly followed.

On the side of Charleroiit is within the socialist list itself that the issue is at stake, since Paul Magnette, the current president of the Socialist Party and mayor of the commune, has decided to pass the torch to Thomas Dermine. The Secretary of State in the government of Alexandre De Croo will try to maintain and further strengthen, if possible, the Socialist Party in the Carole city.

Namur also has an important issue for the Engagés and for Maxime Prévot, the president of the party who is also mayor. The latter will try to consolidate the electoral victory of June 9 in the Walloon capital. Facing him, Eliane Tillieux, former president of the Chamber, who hopes to give some color to the socialists in the capital in Namur.

The city of Liège is experiencing another duel is on the same list, this time with Willy Demeyer (PS), mayor for 25 years, who sees the arrival of Christie Morreale, former minister and group leader, today in the Walloon Parliament. Christie Morreale will try to keep the PS in power in Liège and to still give it, if possible, the same strength as in previous years. The tram work has indeed generated some concerns and the socialists need reinforcement.

In the capital

Will the Ecolo party, which is present in Forest, Ixelles or Watermal-Boisfort, be able to maintain its leadership in these municipalities? Will the Socialist Party in the capital Brussels also be able to keep Philippe Clos at the head of the municipality? Or will the liberals come and change the situation? Will Défi also be able to maintain its position, after its electoral defeat on June 9 in the capital? So many issues, so many questions, of course, that we will be able to analyze throughout the day, this Sunday, with all the RTL info teams mobilized on the ground.
