Mario Dumont loudly denounces what everyone thinks about prices in restaurants.

While St-Hubert announced this week more accessible prices Mario Dumont writes in a column for the Montreal Journal that other establishments should do the same.

Remember that the famous restaurant chain explained that it wanted to introduce “more advantageous” prices, but also “more flexible” with the aim of “adjusting to the reality with which Quebecers have to deal”.

An initiative that appeals to Mario Dumont. “The St-Hubert Group made an accurate reading of the state of mind of its customers. His announcement to reduce the prices of a series of dishes received a friendly reception and I would not be surprised to see an increase in attendance in the short term,” we can read in his column for the JdM.

According to him, this announcement comes at the right time because “the prices are knocking out many consumers”. In fact, many families go to restaurants less because of the high prices. “Families often come out of family restaurants in shock. We were thinking of giving ourselves a little Thursday evening off from cooking and washing dishes and now it has just cost well into the triple digits,” writes Mario Dumont.

The solution is therefore obvious for the columnist: restaurants must offer more accessible prices. However, it is not so easy to set up. “Restaurants are struggling with high operating costs that cannot be reduced: food, labor, rent,” he emphasizes.
