For two days, residents have been living to the rhythm of the flood in Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher), where the water of the Loir should reach its peak, at more than two meters, this Saturday. The water level continued to rise throughout the night in the city, where three streets were completely flooded. Residents are trying to make their way home. Taken by surprise, Coralie got to the point. “I just took my child and my dog. We went to my parents’ house, a little further away, to find shelter.“, she testifies in the 1 p.m. report at the top of this article.

The water continues to rise

A worried father has been monitoring the rising water since last night, hour by hour. “It’s a little scary, and a little sad. This is the first time we are faced with this situation. We’ve been here for a few years“, he says. “Last night there were still some areas that were still dry. Around here, in the street, there was no water. This morning, we saw that there were really no more sidewalks, everything was underwater.”explains a Vendômoise, pointing to the surroundings.

Firefighters and police are ready to intervene

As soon as the flood began, firefighters warned residents, but no evacuations have been carried out for the moment. “We have water up to our knees, but according to forecasts, the level will rise by another 20 centimeters, expected at the peak of the flood at the beginning of the afternoon. The residents have been preparing for it since yesterday.”explains the TF1 journalist. This Saturday afternoon, firefighters and police officers will tour the department and are ready to intervene.

Everyone remains on the alert, like Matthew. He doesn’t take his eyes off the forecasts. “I rang the bell anyway last night to check. We have children at home, we have neighbors who are perhaps a little older. So, there is vigilance. And then, what’s cool too, is that we’re all a little united“, recognizes Matthieu.
