On the night of Thursday October 10 to Friday October 11, 2024, the Northern Lights lit up the skies of France and Europe. “Splendid”, “breathtaking”, but also “capricious”. So many adjectives that can characterize these northern lights, these kind of gigantic colored curtains.

In Caen and Cabourg (Calvados), the Northern Lights were very present, as reported by our local editorial staff The Pays d’Auge. “It was around 10 p.m. that their intensity was the strongest, with an impressive gradient going from green to purple, towards the north,” say our colleagues.

Red, purple or even green. On social networks, images have multiplied all over France in recent hours.
Already last May, many French people had already observed this spectacle. This is only the second time that such intensity has been reached since 2005. The previous time therefore dates back to the famous May 10, 2024.
