UA feeling of waste prevails on the second day of the trial of Jean-Claude Lemaitre and Michel Dumon, 66 and 73 years old, accused of attempted assassination. The civil party, first, Alain C., 58 years old, suffers after-effects after being shot in the back, while he was cycling to work, on October 11, 2021, in Coutras.
In front of the Gironde Assize Court, this civil servant detailed his pain, the pellets still nestled in his body, the nightmares and consequences on his job. “I’m afraid of the noise, afraid that someone will hurt me again, afraid of the day when Lemaitre will be released from prison,” he testifies on the stand, in tears.
Also a waste of the life of his partner, Claire, “central character” in this affair, according to President Hubert Hansenne. In October 2021, she is in a relationship with Alain C. They met at the pétanque club in Saint-Seurin-sur-l’Isle which Jean-Claude Lemaitre also frequents. They are all friends.
Before this romance, Claire had a story with Jean-Claude. He was “supportive” at the end of an unhappy marriage. Jean-Claude was “madly in love”, not her. “I always told him that my feelings were not the same as his. I didn’t want our relationship to be known. In January 2021, I left him, I couldn’t stand his jealousy,” she explains. A few weeks after the breakup, Claire and Alain C. began their relationship. “Were you aware that Jean-Claude Lemaitre was focusing on you? » asks the president. ” No way. »
The aggression of his companion is an earthquake. “Alain was diminished. And there was this part of guilt that I felt. Without meaning to, I am the heart of this story. »
“We messed up”
Finally, a waste for the two accused, who face life imprisonment. In a calm voice, Jean-Claude Lemaitre, a grandfather with peaceful leisure activities, unknown to the justice system before this affair, confessed everything. The plan to kill Alain C. matured in his mind over the months. In July 2021, he is looking for a hitman. “It was 1,500 euros, I couldn’t. » He then confided in Michel Dumon, hunter and petanque friend.
Jean-Claude Lemaitre is also convinced that Alain C. is “a pedophile” and supports this thesis, which is based on nothing, in front of the septuagenarian. “Michel immediately replied: ‘If he’s a pedophile, he must be killed’. I didn’t know his daughter had been raped as a child. We went to each other’s throats to achieve my goals. I played a bit with the word ‘pedophile’,” he admits.
For weeks, he watched Alain C., hatched plans before deciding to follow him by car, when he went to work by bike, and shoot him. “I hated so much that he took the woman I loved from me. I regret my despicable action. »
Jean-Claude Lemaitre and Michel Dumon find themselves in a parking lot and wait for the cyclist to pass. Lemaitre at the wheel, Dumon in the back, his rifle loaded with a 4mm pellet cartridge, they follow him. “For days, Lemaitre had been harassing me, talking to me about this pedophile that I didn’t know. He manipulated me, pushed me to the limit. On October 11, all along the road, he repeated: ”Think he raped your daughter”. I shot. I don’t know why,” says Michel Dumon, shaken by sobs.
The next day, the two men returned to bowl.
