Dominique Pelicot, the troubled past of the “monster of Mazan”: between suspicions of murder and rape

What really hides the past of Dominique Pelicot who has been on trial alongside fifty other defendants since September 2, 2024 before the criminal court?

The legal journey of this father and grandfather who resided in Mazan (Vaucluse) is far from set in stone. The septuagenarian is currently under investigation, as revealed The Parisianin two other crimes committed against female real estate agents.

Strong suspicions weigh on him for the rape followed by the murder of Sophie Narme, aged 23 in 1991 in but also for an attempted rape of a young girl aged 19 in 1999, also a real estate agent, in ( Seine-et-).

The rape and death of Sophie Narme: an unsolved case since 1991

If the “Sophie Narme” affair is unresolved to date, strong suspicions weigh on Dominique Pelicot. This young brunette woman, employed in a Parisian real estate agency, was discovered on December 4, 1991 lying lifeless and naked in an apartment that she was to show to a client. The deceased was raped and strangled with her belt. A strong smell of ether is noted.

His killer will never be found despite investigations which focused on the serial killer Michel Fourniret and François Vérove known as “the hailed one” who committed suicide on September 29, 2021, at Grau-du-Roi () after being hunted for 35 years for a series of crimes. Another number 1 suspect is now on target: Dominique Pélicot.

Faced with investigators, the latter however denied being the author of the assassination of Sophie Narme, but would have, according to our colleagues, admitted in hearing the attempted rape of the young adult who, during her attack, would also have felt a strong smell of ether.

Fined 100 euros in 2010

On July 30, 2010, Dominique Pelicot was arrested in a shopping center in Collégien (Seine-et-Marne), as indicated by François Barrère, journalist at Free lunch. Then aged 57, the man was caught red-handed while filming under the skirts of clients with a pen fitted with a miniature camera. He was fined 100 euros for “capture of immodest images”, during a criminal composition.

His wife Gisèle will know nothing about it. “If I had known, maybe I would have gained 10 years of my life” she declared on September 5, 2024 before the Vaucluse criminal court.

Another event, the same year: following this arrest, Dominique Pelicot’s DNA was added to the National Genetic Fingerprint File (Fnaeg). The national file serves to facilitate the identification and search of perpetrators of offenses using their genetic profile, and of missing persons using the genetic profile of their descendants or ancestors.

His DNA found after the attack on a real estate agent in… 1999

In 2010, the genetic profile “matched” with facts committed eleven years earlier. It corresponds to that of the blood found on the shoes of a young woman. Estella, an employee of a real estate agency, was violently attacked in 1999 in Villeparisis (Seine-et-Marne) by a man who claimed to be looking for real estate.

The information transmitted to the judicial court does not give rise to follow-up. “No judge is any longer seized of this investigation, closed since a dismissal in 2001“, notes the journalist from Midi libre. Dominique Pelicot will never be worried until his arrest in September 2020.

This judicial black hole will allow the individual to pursue his criminal intention, for ten years, to the point of delivering his drugged wife with medication to around fifty individuals; subjecting her to sexual acts without her knowledge.

On September 12, 2020, Pelicot was arrested and taken into custody at the police station (Vaucluse). This 67-year-old retiree was spotted by security guards at a shopping center while he was filming under the dresses of three customers, with a video device hidden in a bag.

This time his DNA will (again) “speak” and the judicial system will (finally) kick in and reveal dark secrets.

Five unsolved cases involving women working in real estate

Five cases were retained using the Salva software (System for analyzing the links of violence associated with crimes), with suspicions of the involvement of Dominique Pelicot, as reported by BFM TV which had access to the summary.
