A woman found in the woodsthis is the name given to its exposure. Mélanie Dornier is a visual artist and photographer who lives in Flers. (Orne) since 2017 after traveling a lot.

She has some values which are close to her heart and which she wishes to defend and convey through art: respect for humans, women, nature. The artist is currently exhibiting his works at the Bellou-en-Houlme media library.

The story begins at the moment when everything changes for a woman who has decided to turn her back on society by choosing to leave the urban worldits codes and its rules, for the benefit of a life in the woods.

Associate art with the public, with youth

Like every year, workshops are offered in Bellou. Contemporary art has been there since 2013 in partnership with the Departmental Fund, with exhibitions in a place that welcomes both the works and the artists.

Having an artist in residence, it seems very important to me to involve the public, the residents, the youth to work in partnership.

Huguette Bertrand, head of the Bellou-en-Houlme media library

For the next workshop, in May with the public schools of Bellou and with the public, an introductory workshop on cyanotype [procédé photographique monochrome négatif ancien n.d.l.r.]is scheduled for 1er June with Mélanie.

Two exhibitions per year in Bellou

“Two exhibitions per year are offered by the media library,” continues Huguette Bertrand. The works move to leave room to a new exhibition, always in the presence of an artist.

” It’s a will to want to bring audiences together with artists, beyond a simple exhibition, to give rise to new ideas…” concludes Élodie Baratte, head of the Departmental Contemporary Art Funds for the entire Orne department.

Exhibition visible until June 15, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. FREE ENTRANCE. Contact: 02 33 96 29 43.
