Staff at the Toulouse University Hospital are in shock after the death of a 26-year-old intern. His body was discovered lifeless at the Pierre-Paul Riquet Hospital. An investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances of this death.
An anesthetist-resuscitator in the 4th semester
A 26-year-old intern was found lifeless in his on-call room at the Pierre-Paul Riquet Hospital in Toulouse. The young man, in the fourth semester of specialization in anesthesia-resuscitation, had returned to his service at the University Hospital after two semesters of internship in other health establishments in the region. While he was on duty in the emergency room during the night of Monday May 6 to Tuesday May 7, he was found unresponsive in his room the following morning. Despite attempts at resuscitation, he could not be saved.
Ongoing investigation
An investigation has been launched to elucidate the circumstances surrounding this death. The University Hospital Center has also set up a psychological support system to help interns and medical staff affected by this sudden loss. The University Hospital, the Faculty of Health and the University of Toulouse 3 expressed their condolences to the loved ones of the young intern, while offering their support to the medical community affected by this brutal death.
