It was around 1:20 a.m. this Thursday morning when the emergency services were called to a traffic accident near the Zoo Club nightclub (Barry). The alert was given following a very violent collision on the N7. We then talk about three people stuck in a vehicle, two of whom are unconscious. An extrication vehicle, a marking truck, four ambulances and two Smurs were dispatched to the scene.

Help comes from Blaton, Leuze and Tournai. The collision occurred between the Festu bridge and the Zoo. During a maneuver, a car was hit by another vehicle. In total, seven people were seated in these two cars. “We had to extricate one of the two occupants in one of the two cars. In the extricated car, two people died. It is a man and a woman”, said around 8:30 a.m. Captain Lionel Hanuise who led the intervention.

Informed of the facts, the Tournai-Mons public prosecutor’s office commissioned an expert to the scene of the collision. According to the first elements transmitted by the public prosecutor, it was an Audi vehicle which hit a Peugeot in which the two people who lost their lives were. The two victims are French, born in 2000 and 2005. “The suspect was born in 1993 and lived in the Tournai region. The suspect was probably driving at very high speed, an element that the automobile expert will have to confirm”, indicated the magistrate on duty this Thursday. He was also under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The driver was made available to an investigating judge who will decide on his deprivation of liberty in the next 48 hours.

As for the intervention, it lasted several hours and only ended early in the morning. The roadway was closed to traffic for several hours, to facilitate the work of the emergency services. This only ended early in the morning.
