The National Election Management Agency (ANGE) in Chad announced the preliminary results of the May 6 presidential election. According to these results, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno obtained a large majority of votes with 61.03%, or a total of 3,787,360 votes.
Detailed results published by ANGE show that his main opponent, Succès Masra, received 18.53% of the votes, while Pahimi Padacké Albert came third with 16.91% of the votes. These figures place Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno in a winning position in the first round of the presidential election.
For its part, Succès Masra contested these results. In a video posted on social media, he claimed his own victory and questioned the integrity of the electoral process. He declared: “What we feared is happening (…) This small group is wrong about the election results (…) We all know that they want to steal the victory from the people. » This statement suggests a deep distrust of the results announced by L’ANGE.
