In line with its actions carried out since 2008 in favor of the protection and safeguarding of nature, Bretoncelles heritage & nature (BPN) wishes to highlight the cormiers, planted in November, by dedicating a desk to them: “The cormiers de peace”, which will be inaugurated on Saturday May 11, 2024.

A screening after the inauguration

“The cormier is an ancient fruit tree, threatened with disappearance. 75% of our cultivated biodiversity has disappeared in a century. The cormier tree is an example of this because its small fruits, considered unprofitable, were abandoned, leading to the disappearance of the trees that bore them. explains Claude Bâcle, president of BPN.

The cormiers were century-old trees and an emblem of the homes to which they were attached. BPN wants to show the importance of sourcing healthy and sustainable natural resources: water, air and food, as shown in the 2014 documentary, The seed wars, which will be screened following the inauguration. He describes with great precision and interest the cycle of seeds over the decades and its implications for the lives of farmers and for the food supply of all at the global level. explains Claude Bâcle, who will answer questions from participants.

Saturday May 11, meet at the swimming pool parking lot at 2:15 p.m. for the inauguration of the desk, then a screening of the documentary The seed war in the village hall at 3:15 p.m. At the same time, from 9 a.m., there will be a flower market on the church square with the sale of second-hand clothes for the benefit of BPN.
