A father in his fifties was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of his own daughter, aged 20. The tragedy took place at the family home in Hussein Dey, where the victim was found stabbed to death in his bed.
According to the Arabic-speaking daily Ennahar, the sordid crime shook the city of Algiers on February 23, 2023. The first elements of the investigation reveal that the father would have premeditated his acttormented by the idea of killing his daughter for an affair she had with a young man. The details of the crime are shocking. When the father was questioned, he said he decided to kill his daughter after being tormented by the idea since the day before, at 3 p.m., and acted the next day at 6:50 a.m., after his wife and children had left for the day.
So, taking advantage of the departure of his wife and other children for the day, he entered his daughter’s room at dawn and stabbed her the first time while she was sleeping. Awakened by the attack, the young woman tried to understand what was happening, but his father stabbed him several more timeskilling her on the spot.

To conceal his crime, he then covered his daughter’s body with a blanket and left the home to join his wife and son, pretending to be out with the family. The man dropped off his wife and child with his in-laws, before voluntarily surrender to the police to confess his crime.
The motive for the crime turns out to be particularly sordid: the father acted in retaliation for an alleged sexual assault of which his daughter was the victim three years ago. He reportedly recently discovered that she was in a relationship with her alleged attacker and that she sometimes slept at his house. In addition, the young girl had recently been arrested by the police, in an apartment with several men.
