An arson attack left two dead and several injured in the Pas du loup district, west of Montpellier, on the night of Sunday October 6 to Monday October 7. Shortly after three o’clock this morning, according to our information, an individual threw a molotov cocktail in a night grocery store. Its owner, a 70-year-old man, died.
When help arrived, witnesses said they heard screams inside the burning business. A man in his thirties then rushed to help the grocer.
The 30-year-old then drove into the storefront to try to help him. He remained stuck in his vehicle. He was burned to death, just like the store owner.
According to the first elements of the investigation, two individuals were filmed by video surveillance cameras, including one approaching the business with a container. The Interregional Judicial Police Service is responsible for the investigation.
The fire in the grocery store, located on the ground floor of a building, also affected the upper floors. Several people, bothered by the smoke, were evacuated.
