Today, Thursday May 9, female cyclists aged under 15 and 17 cover the 55.8 km course of the 2024 French Road Cycling Championships of the Future, in Altkirch, in Alsace. Follow the race online from 2:30 p.m., live on our site and on france.tv.

The 2024 French road cycling championships of the future are being held from May 8 to 12 in Alsace, in the town of Altkirch (Haut-Rhin) and its surroundings. After the U17 men’s race held at the start of the day on Thursday May 9, watch the online race for girls under 15 and 17 live, at the top of this article and on france.tv.

Of the approximately 1,018 entered in the entire competition, 107 young U15 and U17 runners are competing to win the title of French champion. The best hope to attract the attention of professional teams, with the dream of becoming a pro cyclist. To try to launch their careers, the cadets will have to complete the rather difficult 14.6 km circuit four times.

The circuit designed for today’s race is demanding. Altkirch, the capital of Sundgau, hosts the start and finish of the various races of the 2024 Future Championships. The course, with its many bends (especially in the urban section) offers beautiful landscapes for cycling enthusiasts.

The sequence of climbs and descents leaves little recovery time for the young runners, including in the long section which runs through the Alsatian countryside. Despite the few flat sections, cyclists should still maintain an average speed of 34 km/h. Nothing is therefore decided in advance, with an uncertain outcome until the last climb.

The Haut-Rhin has already hosted several pelotons of cyclists in the past, notably in 1983 in Wintzenheim or in 1975 in Kaysersberg, for the French championships of the future. Sundgau, home of several champions such as Hugo Hofstetter, Axel Zinglé and Quentin Bezza, could see the French professional championships take place there, depending on the success of the future 2024 championships.

Thrill to the rhythm of the championships of the future of road cycling throughout this weekend. Follow the next races live on our site, starting with the U23 women’s race this Saturday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m., commented by Manuel Goetz and Emilian Broë.

The men’s hopefuls will take over on the afternoon of May 11 from 4:00 p.m. for an impressive 166.4 km race, followed by the juniors this Sunday, May 12 from 10 a.m. for the U19 women’s race, and at 3 p.m. for the men’s race.
