This late Wednesday afternoon, a dramatic incident took place on Chaussée Brunehault in Estinnes. A drama that played out in two stages. First of all, a fire broke out in a house located opposite the Delhaize d’Estinnes. “It was probably an electrical problem according to the occupant of the premises but this remains to be confirmed.”, tells us Aurore Tourneur, mayor of Estinnes.
The fire then spread into the house, causing a stir among the neighbors who arrived en masse on the spot. Among the latter, the owner of the house who lives 50 meters away. “He took a garden hose and tried to enter the house to put out the fire but without success..”
A fatal discomfort
Shortly after, the man, aged around sixty and probably angry following the fire in his house, felt unwell. “The police officers, who were on site before the firefighters arrived, carried out resuscitation on the spot and managed to bring him back to his senses but he suffered a second attack which proved fatal.”, explains the mayor.
Firefighters managed to put the fire under control but the house was completely destroyed.
The occupant of the premises was able to leave her home in time but was obviously in shock after the tragedy which saw her lose everything she owned.
