Rafael Nadal continues to maintain his legend during this year 2024, which, even if he has not yet given confirmation, will surely be his last on the circuit.

The Spaniard is present this week in Rome and will play his first this Thursday, May 9 against the Belgian Zizou Bergs.

Still eagerly awaited regarding his retirement, Nadal explained yesterday at a press conference that his absences and his retirement are never motivated by a loss of interest in tennis or by a lack of competitiveness.

“When I talk about retirement, it’s not because I’m no longer happy playing tennis or that I don’t feel competitive enough. It’s about the fact that my body was not able to play for several weeks in a row, was not able to allow me to train and enjoy training on a daily basis… If you are not able doing things right on a daily basis, you can’t enjoy it because of pain and injury, and it’s almost impossible to keep fighting for the things that really motivate you, right? But this is now my third week on tour almost in a row. It’s a good time, even if the results aren’t what they used to be. »
