On Wednesday, firefighters had to go to a construction site for a roof fire.
On Wednesday, around 5 p.m., Brussels firefighters responded to a roof fire in a majestic building, dating from 1925, located in rue Belliard (Etterbeek).
The fire was fully developed. Fortunately, the inhabitants of this building under construction were all safe and sound.
A gas cylinder exploded during extinguishing work. Several other containers were present and they were cooled. Fortunately, the firefighters were unhurt aside from temporary tinnitus.
The origin of the fire remains to be determined. The building was declared uninhabitable following the fire.
The police in the Montgomery and Brussels Capital/Ixelles areas had set up a security perimeter and carried out the evacuation.
