The owner of the company which caused a propane explosion in Val-des-Sources in July 2022 pleads guilty to 5 of the 10 criminal charges against him under the building law. He now has two years to pay a fine of approximately $30,000.
André Vachon was not at the courthouse on Wednesday, but the guilty pleas were recorded on his behalf by his lawyer, Me Marc-André Champagne.
Remember that the explosion ravaged two residences in Val-des-Sources, and a woman was seriously injured.
Basically, these are findings in relation to the permit. The building authority can and has issued violations for each year prior to the incident that occurred. Every year, a report, and the same thing with negligence for five years in the past
clarified Me Champagne.
As part of the agreement we made, the public prosecutor decided to withdraw the charges for the other findings.
added the lawyer.
He is also charged with criminal negligence. This case will return to court on May 24.
