This Saturday, May 4, it was under beautiful sunshine that the municipality organized an information and awareness day on healthy eating and gardening. Two associations took part in this event: Amap (Association for the Maintenance of Peasant Agriculture) and L’olivier en Pays Cévenol.
Numerous activities were offered throughout the day on Place des Mares, with plant bartering where everyone could get their supplies for free.
A major demonstration
At 10 a.m., a conference was offered on the theme of wild bees, with the participation of beekeepers from the village.
At 10:30 a.m., a workshop was devoted to building bat shelters.
At mealtime, three recipes were proposed around chickpeas.
The pruning of the olive trees, at 2 p.m., attracted people as it should. It is the association L’olivier en pays cévenol, whose headquarters is in Saint-Christol-lès-Alès, represented by its secretary, Yvette Raspal and its tailors, who gave demonstrations by attacking an olive tree on the side of the road who hadn’t seen a pruner or lopper in ages. Result: the tree looked great again in less than half an hour. This strong association of eighty members, all passionate as Yvette explains, travels around the surrounding area to provide advice in situ.
It was at 4 p.m. that the grain library allowed those who wanted to collect seeds for free.
A beautiful day, punctuated by film screenings and conferences, which ended at 6 p.m. The mayor, Julie Lopez, did not leave the place all day and said she was very satisfied, noting a large influx of families.
