Milan were defeated by the Franchi of Florence against Fiorentina and their fourth defeat in a month, the second in the league after that of Parma, and failed to reach second place. These are the AC Milan report cards:

MAIGNAN 6: keeps Milan afloat by saving Moise Kean’s penalty. It was impossible to do anything about Adli’s shot which caresses the base of the post and goes behind him. Gudmundsson shoots him, taking him in counter time.

EMERSON ROYAL 5: first forty-five minutes attentive and proactive. He hits some interesting crosses, on which his teammates try to turn the ball towards De Gea’s goal. Then he makes some technical errors that cause his rating to collapse.

CAGE 6.5: Kean mostly hangs out in Tomori areas, but he is always active and alert. He is often the one who is most ready on dead balls to try to head. Of the back pack he was the most positive, also taking the penalty which Abraham then had saved by De Gea.

TOMORI 4.5: Kean challenges him several times in speed, but that is his favorite hunting ground. But the sensational error on Gudmundsson’s goal is not conceivable in any category in the world.

THEO HERNANDEZ 4: embarrassing first half. He enters the game very badly and you can see it in the look he has. First he causes the penalty for Fiorentina, sleeping badly on Dodò’s pressure and kicking his foot. Maignan saves everything. At the end of the first half he took the responsibility of kicking the potential equalizer penalty, but had it saved by De Gea, who seemed to freeze him from the moment of the run-up. He draws the cross that becomes an assist for Pulisic’s goal. He gets himself sent off at the end of the match for protesting. That’s not good at all.

BREATHING 6.5: lots of preventive reading, especially when Fiorentina picks up the pace after Milan’s first outburst. He recovers a lot of balls and in the second half, in certain situations, he is dominant.

REIJNDERS 6: he is always ready to receive the ball, especially from Leao, when Milan develop on the center left. Very good with the cut-out to take a position on Ranieri and take the penalty missed by Theo. In the second half he tries to raise the pace.

PULISIC 6: He doesn’t look like himself in the first half. He often acts as a roadblock to the passages of his teammates who would like to go directly to Royal. The opposition on Adli was rather beachy on the occasion of Fiorentina’s 1-0 goal. He finishes the action which leads Reijnders to take the penalty which was then badly missed by Theo. He scores a beautiful goal that equalizes the score. He goes out and doesn’t like it. (since ’82 CHUKWUEZE SV).

MORATA 5.5: varies a lot, as per the role and requests, trying to open up the AC Milan maneuver. He headed Milan’s first goal in the first half following a cross from Royal. In the second half he struggled to be incisive.

LEO 6: Theao’s snack buddy is totally out of step and so he starts his own business, when he can. Due to Dodò’s yellow card, he sands De Gea’s fingertips and looks for new spaces in which to unload his horses. In the first half he was also diligent in the defensive phase. Even in the second half, when the ball reaches him, he creates something like an assist for Pulisic, stopped by Ranieri at the last minute. Then Fonseca takes it away, this time inexplicably. (from 73′ OKAFOR 6: in the only moment of the match, he sets the table for Abraham).

ABRAHAM 5: the Fiorentina cage takes away his breath and space. Enter the beautiful move with which Milan took the penalty at the end of the first half. He missed the potential 1-1 and also missed another opportunity on which De Gea saved a soft shot with his feet and also stumbled after Okafor’s assist.

ALL. FONSECA 5: “we are still far from the Milan I want”. Yes, but we are in October and here we are back to square one. A Milan that lacks the ability to have continuity within the match. Even against Fiorentina we saw things at times, with an unacceptable absence of malice and play. There is always that feeling that something is missing, even at a mentality level, to make a definitive change. Is the derby effect already over?
