Senegal today mourns the loss of a true road architect, a builder whose mark will forever be engraved in the history of the country’s infrastructure. Mr. Ibrahima Ndiaye, former Director General of AGEROUTE, passed away recently, leaving behind an indelible legacy of progress and innovation in the transport sector.

His exceptional career was marked by unwavering dedication to his country and its people.
From his time at the head of AGETIP to his enlightened leadership at AATR which he led from 2005 to 2012 and which subsequently became AGEROUTE which he led from 2014 to 2023, Mr. Ndiaye has always placed the development of road infrastructure at the heart of its priorities. For nearly two decades, from 2005 to 2023, he embodied the excellence and strategic vision that transformed Senegal’s roads.

Under his enlightened leadership, AGEROUTE has become a benchmark in road design, construction and management. His unwavering commitment to quality and efficiency has modernized the country’s road network, opening new avenues to economic and social progress.

But beyond his remarkable professional achievements, Mr. Ndiaye will be remembered as a man of principle, integrity and compassion. His modesty and availability made him a respected and appreciated leader, both by his colleagues, the Senegalese citizens whom he served with dedication and the technical and financial partners.

Today, as we pay our final respects, we remember not only his exceptional achievements, but also the man behind the title. Ibrahima Ndiaye was much more than a General Director.

He was a model of excellence, a guide for future generations and a faithful friend to those who were lucky enough to know him.

By appointing a replacement for Mr. Ibrahima Ndiaye who had wished to step down for health reasons, President Macky Sall praised his exemplary professionalism, rigor and dedication.

He took advantage of the end of his mission to pay him, during the Council of Ministers on December 27, 2023, a vibrant tribute at the end of his 34 years of service to his country, particularly in the infrastructure sector.

In this moment of mourning, we express our most sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones and all those whose lives were touched by his generosity and dedication. May his achievements inspire generations to come and his memory remain engraved in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace, Ibrahima. Your legacy will live on through the roads you built and the lives you touched. Your influence will continue to guide our nation on the path of progress and development. Your departure leaves an immense void, but your memory illuminates our hearts like a beacon in the night. »
