The success of Helldivers 2 almost turned into a total fiasco because of a single decision. But the storm has passed and players are starting to forgive PlayStation.
Since its release, Helldivers 2 has been a pretty crazy hit that has completely overwhelmed the developers at Arrowhead Game Studios. Such success was clearly unexpected, and yet it happened. But in recent days, we have seen an equally violent turnaround. An outcry caused by the fact that Sony wanted to force Steam players to create a PlayStation Network account and link it to that of the Valve platform. In response to this announcement, the community carried out what is called review bombing, completely dropping the evaluations which had until then been ultra positive.

This very negative feedback, as well as the discussions between Arrowhead Game Studios and the people concerned within Sony Interactive Entertainment, therefore made it possible to put out the fire. But it doesn’t stop there because Steam users have also taken a step of their own. After leaving more than 300,000 negative reviews in just three days, more than 200,000 positive reviews were added to Helldivers 2’s profile on Steam. The game thus regains color after being destroyed. While the stock had fallen to 43% positive ratings, it rose again to 71%. There is still a way to go since Helldivers 2 was more than 80% green, but it’s already a good start. Freedom and democracy have won!
