Chaudon. The kids of our P’tites Envie stars of the day. La Chèvrerie de nos P’tites Envies created at the end of 2020 by Alexandra Regnard and Éric Guinedot, opened its doors to the public on Sunday for a discovery day.
Around twenty exhibitors of artisanal and food products delighted the numerous visitors.
Poitou goats
The Old Pistons club presented a dozen old tractors and offered a demonstration of old-fashioned wheat threshing.
Games for children, weighing a young goat to win a cheese platter, followed one another.
The goat farm has 70 mothers aged 2 to 4 years, 123 kids and 2 goats. A milking takes place every morning and then the herd leaves for the meadow, returning in the evening to the shelter of the sheepfold. Soon 45 young females aged 2 months will leave for the north of France to help establish a new breeder of the Poitevine breed.
The goat farm with its Poitevin goats allows the production of cheeses and some new products such as goat’s milk ice cream, soap and sausages, with sales on site in the shop and in the markets.
