“He was a huge actor”: Robert Charlebois speaks about the disappearance of Michel Blanc

Robert Charlebois, who will soon perform in Belgium with his new show “Charlebois, Ducharme and the others”, spoke with emotion of the disappearance of Michel Blanc. The Quebec artist wanted to pay tribute to this actor whom he considered above all as a “huge actor” and not just a comedian.

Robert Charlebois wanted to share his memories of Michel Blanc, who died this Thursday evening. “My last laugh with him was at Julien Clerc’s wedding in Corsica”he confides. Although they were not close on a daily basis, Charlebois remembers a man with whom he shared many moments of lightness. “Michel was not just a comedian, he was a huge actor”he added.

For Robert Charlebois, Michel Blanc represented much more than a simple comedy actor. Through his roles in films that have become cult, Michel Blanc has demonstrated the full extent of his talent, capable of embodying characters that are both funny and deeply dramatic. “He’s someone I knew well, but he wasn’t a close friend.”recognizes Robert Charlebois. “I feel sad, like when you lose a friend”he admitted.

In his show “Charlebois, Ducharme and the others”, the Quebec artist highlights poetry and humor, elements which he believes are cruelly lacking in the current context. “We try to make people dream (…). There is poetry, humor and love, everything that is missing today”he explains.

For the songwriter, this show is an opportunity to celebrate not only the poets and lyricists who inspired him, but also his deceased friends. “We have a lot of opportunities to cry with what is happening in the world, with the war, with friends who are leaving us like Michel Blanc… We try to make people smile in a period where there are too many opportunities to cry. many”he concludes.
