Despite the gloomy feeling of many French people linked to the rain in recent days, April 2024 was no exception to the rule which has lasted since February 2022: the month of April which has just passed is the 27e months above the norms regarding the average temperature in France. The end of April was rather cool, but Weather reportWeather report France specifies that these two weeks of cool weather did not succeed in counterbalancing the first two weeks of very mild weather.
“The average temperature in April 2024 in France reaches 12.4°C, which represents an excess of +0.7°C compared to 1991-2020 normals” announces Météo France. To find a month with a deficit in terms of temperatures in France, you have to go back to January 2022!
A new world heat record in April
On a global scale, the month of April 2024 was the hottest month ever observed in the beginning of weather records according to Copernicus.
Since June 2023, each month has reached an unprecedented global temperature threshold, April 2024 is therefore the 11the consecutive month to end with a record.
