Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon gave spectators a great battle during the Miami Grand Prix. The Spaniard also appreciated the Frenchman’s resistance.

This Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix was marked by Lando Norris’ first victory. Great battles also spiced up the race, notably those between Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. The Spaniard, who started in 15th position, made a good comeback during the race. The safety car which brought together all the drivers helped him a lot and allowed him to place himself in ninth place and scrape two points.

To recover this 9th position, the Spanish driver had to confront a very determined Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman resisted Alonso for a long time before giving in his position. A battle that pleased the double world champion.

A peaceful relationship between the two pilots

“Esteban also fought a lot. As always, he’s a competitor, but always with respect. I really enjoyed fighting with him. It’s the first point for Alpine and I’m happy for them. But I I think Esteban drove really well to get this point, well done to them,” he told Motorsport.

With his hard tires, the Frenchman was unable to resist the Aston Martin driver, who was on medium. Thanks to his tenth position, Ocon allows Alpine to gain its first point of the season.

The two drivers immortalized this beautiful battle with a selfie taken after the Miami Grand Prix, which was posted on Esteban Ocon’s X account (ex-Twitter). A photo which is pleasing after the little tensions which may have existed between the two former teammates (at Alpine).

During qualifying for the GP sprint race in Brazil, in November 2023, Ocon and Alonso had a violent collision. Furious, the Alpine driver did not hesitate to sharply tackle Alonso by calling him “an idiot” on his radio. Since then, their relationship seems to have visibly calmed down.
