“Monster”, “clown”, “dangerous”… Robert De Niro trashes Donald Trump during an interview

Robert De Niro does not want to see Donald Trump return to power, and he does not hesitate to make it known. Guest on the show The 11th Hour (MSNBC) a few days ago, the 80-year-old actor did not hesitate to describe the former president as a “monster”, reports the American media Deadline.

“He acts like a clown”

“He’s a real sick man. I’m tired of calling him names. He simply must not go near the office of the president. (…) This guy is a monster,” declared the actor, a fervent opponent of the 45th President of the United States.

“I don’t think Americans understand how dangerous he will be if, God forbid, he ever becomes president again. (…) He looks like a clown. He acts like a clown. And one way or another, people identify with him,” added Robert De Niro.

This is not the first time that the actor has attacked Donald Trump. During a press conference organized in Cannes in 2023, he compared the businessman to the character he plays in the film Killers of the Flower Moon : a cruel man ready to kill Native Americans to exploit the oil beneath their lands.

“This guy is stupid”

“It’s the banality of evil, the thing we have to watch out for. We see it today… It’s like with Trump. There are people who think he can still do a good job. Imagine how crazy that is. (…) This guy is stupid,” he declared.

During his interview on MSNBC, Robert de Niro also gave his support to outgoing President Joe Biden, Democratic candidate for the next American elections which will be held on November 5. “He’s trying to do the right thing. (…) We have no choice,” he explained.

Could the actor one day play the role of Donald Trump on screen? Robert De Niro answered this question unambiguously: “There is not a single positive thing in him that I can see, ever, ever. »
