It was 11:14 p.m. this Thursday, October 3, 2024, when the firefighters of Sartilly-Baie-Bocage (Manche) were called to a fire on the Carolles road activity zone.

The Sartilly firefighters had the reinforcement of their colleagues from Granville, Bréhal, Cherbourg, Saint-Lô, La Haye-Pesnel, Tessy… Around a hundred men were on site with four vans, two ladders, a lifting arm… big ones means have been committed.

Three trucks and beer barrels saved

The fire apparently started from the false ceiling in the administrative part of the site, according to a witness on site.

At 3:30 a.m., firefighters had the fire under control.

The actions undertaken made it possible to save three heavy goods vehicles and a large storage of beer barrels.

Philippe Malplanche, who is retiring in two weeks, had just sold his business. “25 years of his life gone up in smoke,” confided Anne Cécile Rebelle, the first deputy mayor of Sartilly, on site this Friday morning.
