what is the price of domestic fuel at the start of the week?

After recording a clear increase at the beginning of April, the prices of domestic fuel oil continued to decline. For this first decade of May, prices seem stable.

For this Monday, May 6, ordinary fuel oil is displayed at 1.212 euros per liter by the specialized site prixfioul.fr. Regarding premium fuel oil, the average price in France is 1.231 euros per liter. Prices close to those recorded last week by this same Source. But compared to those observed at the beginning of April, the difference is several euro cents.

For its part, the fioulreduc site displays an even lower average price. For this Monday, the average price is 1.203 euros per liter. The site fioulmarket.fr displays an average price of 1,214 euros per 1,000 liters, or 8 euros less than the price indicated at the end of April by the same site.

According to the site fioulreduc.fr, which compares the prices of domestic fuel oil in each department, it is Île-de-France which offers the cheapest prices at the start of the week, with an average price of 1,175 euros per liter. As for the highest prices in the country, they amount to 1,232 euros per 1,000 liters this Tuesday and they are offered in Limousin.

Between Île-de-France and Limousin, the price difference for a purchase of 1000 liters of domestic fuel oil is almost 57 euros for the start of the week. But in the national average, we see that prices are down sharply compared to those recorded last month.

The impact of oil prices on fuel oil prices

It must be said that domestic fuel oil follows the price of black gold. And it is precisely because of the rise in oil prices that this fuel also increased significantly in April. But for several days, the prices of black gold have fallen significantly. This Monday, May 6, a barrel of Brent from the North Sea sold at $83.56. As for the barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), it fell back below the threshold of 80 dollars, standing at 78.82 dollars per barrel.

This lull in the oil markets is notably due to negotiations for a truce in the Middle East. The mediating countries, such as Qatar, Egypt and the United States, have also initiated discussions with representatives of Hamas to find a favorable outcome for all.
