Robert Galinier died at the age of 89. In Saint-Affrique, he has seen generations of students at the Foch college and young people at the Rial outdoor center and the rugby club. Tribute to a defender of public and secular schools and a lover of the oval ball.

It’s the end of a life dedicated to making connections, at school, in rugby and in society. Robert Galinier died on Wednesday, May 1, at the age of 89. Born on August 1, 1934 in Puisserguier in Hérault, Robert Galinier is the eldest of three boys. He continued his studies in Limoux and “became the youngest high school graduate in Aude” recalls his brother Michel. After studying medicine in Toulouse, he moved into teaching, as a French teacher, in Rodez and Viviez in the Decazeville area. Once his military service was completed at the Saumur officers’ school, where he graduated first in his class, Robert Galinier was mobilized for the Algerian war as an officer.
