Raphaël Glucksmann denounces the framework of Xi Jinping’s visit to France

Guest of France Inter this Monday, May 6, MEP Raphaël Glucksmann, habitual defender of the Uighur cause, denounced the framework of the French visit of the Chinese leader which is starting.

“He is the main supporter of Putin’s war in Ukraine.” MEP Raphaël Glucksmann denounces the presence in France at the start of the week of Chinese leader Xi Jinping for a two-day state visit between Paris and the Hautes-Pyrénées. “He is not our friend,” he says.

“We can discuss with everyone, but not in this way,” slips the head of the list supported by the Socialist Party in the European elections. This visit, and in particular what he considers to be a “friendly setting”, is not to the taste of someone who is a fervent defender of the Uighur cause.

“Don’t be silent”

A few hours earlier, in Le Monde, the MEP published an article calling on Emmanuel Macron in this regard. He asks “not to remain silent in the face of the crimes committed there”, at the start of a state visit by Xi Jinping to France.

“It is not a question of no longer speaking to China or of not receiving Chinese leaders, but it is a question of being firm, of not remaining silent in the face of the crimes committed there or the attacks carried out here , to assume the balance of power”, writes the head of the PS-Place publique list to the Europeans.

According to him, this is “the only way to transform the European Union into a global ecological and political power with a say in world affairs.”
