Be careful, if you haven’t seen the warning sign and you go around in circles waiting to pick up one or more passengers, you might be surprised by the amount you have to pay on your fourth pass.

The time when the drop-off at Nice Côte d’Azur airport was free seems a long way off and yet it was only in 2019 that it became chargeable.

The principle is simple: five free minutes and beyond, pricing is based on quarter-hour intervals. The bill can quickly add up even if the vast majority of visits last no more than five minutes.

However, there remains a pricing particularity of this “Kiss and Fly” ignored by many drivers.

If you are driving while waiting for a loved one whose plane is delayed or you have to pick up a lot of people in the same day, for a big wedding or a family celebration for example, be careful to count the number of passages at the drop-off point.

If you pass three times in 24 hours, on the fourth time, the exit terminal will tell you the amount to pay: 80 euros.

There are numerous comments on the internet from motorists who had to pay this high sum.

We can read the surprise and anger in this testimony: “Yesterday evening around 10 p.m., I went to pick up my family. Given the plane was late, I had to pass the drop-off barrier three times, stunned and stunned when the terminal asked me for 80 euros, so even respecting the timing less than five minutes, I owe 80 euros, I was never informed of this infamous regulation.

Or “Looking for passengers, I made three turns, to leave, they asked me 80€ I mean 80€ for 3 minutes, it seems that it is indicated at the entrance in small letters at the bottom of the table, it is obvious theft on top of that, we have to rush into this parking lot to get out of T1, big scam”.

This system was implemented in 2023.”It allows us to fight against unaccredited passenger transporters who come to drop off passengers at the drop-off point.” explains the communications manager at Nice Côte d’Azur airport.

A sign has been installed upstream of the “Kiss and fly” to warn drivers of this new rule.

If you had to pay 80 euros, it is possible to prove your good faith on the Nice Côte d’Azur airport website by filling out the contact form.

To combat parking problems, Nice Côte d’Azur airport also implemented another system before 2017: video-verbalization.

This does not prevent many motorists from parking outside the airport area, on the banks of the Var, to avoid paying for parking or having to pay 80 euros in the event of a fourth trip to the drop-off point.
