After more than a month of interruption due to a major political crisis with the government of Tripoli recognized by the UN, the authorities of eastern Libya announced, Thursday, October 3, the resumption of production and of the export of oil from this region of the country.
Interrupted since August 26the production and export of oil from the East of the Libya will therefore be able to resume. The authorities in the east of the country announced this Thursday, October 3, in a press release published on Facebook. It can be read that “ the state of force majeure on all oil fields and terminals » is raised, et « the resumption of production and exports » recorded.
In retaliation, the authorities in eastern Libya then decided to block the country’s main oil infrastructure, a radical decision given the weight that hydrocarbons represent in the country’s tax revenue – almost all of it. According to the National Oil Company (NOC), daily production of black gold has been halved since the start of the blockade.
