The Crown opposed the release of Ghislain Grenier, 54 years old from Sainte-Béatrix, Stéphan Hébert, 32 years old from Joliette, Zachary Gagnon, 21 years old from Saint-Lambert, Kim Warren-Lapointe and Rosalie Bourassa, both aged 26 and from Rawdon.

All five face charges of aggravated assault and illegal possession of firearms. Hébert, Gagnon and Grenier are also accused of attempted murder.

The court also accuses the five co-defendants of having intentionally discharged a firearm in the direction of a place, without caring whether a person was there or not, and of having occupied a vehicle containing prohibited firearms. .

“We are talking about a handgun and an AK-47 type rifle, which is quite special,” explains the Crown prosecutor, Me Christian Grenier.

The investigation into the release of the suspects has been set for November 26. Until then, they are prohibited from communicating with each other as well as with several individuals known to organized crime, including All Boivin and Dave Turmel.

Me Gauthier explains why the individuals face the same charges, even if they did not all handle a firearm.

“Accomplices can be charged with the same charges when the evidence tends to show that they knew of the upcoming crime. This can be compared with a hold-up. The driver of a vehicle who is going to rob a bank; we take it for granted that he is aware,” says Me Gauthier.

Mistaken identity

In the evening of April 15, a man was seriously injured by a projectile on 6th Avenue in La Baie. A large police deployment followed. Investigators confirm today that this victim had nothing to do with the armed conflict that has been going on between rival gangs for several months in Saguenay for the control of drug networks.

Zachary Gagnon and Stéphane Hébert, already detained, were arrested in Chicoutimi a few days after this attack in a raid which led to the incarceration of six individuals in total.

“They have already appeared for similar events last April,” underlines the Crown prosecutor, Me Christian Gauthier.
