Angola Oil and Gas Conference 2024: Aimé Sakombi Molendo signs strategic agreements in Luanda

The Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Aimé Sakombi Molendo, signed, on Wednesday October 2, 2024, in Luanda several strategic agreements with his Angolan counterpart on the sidelines of the 5th edition of the Angola Oil and Gas Conference.

Indeed, the agreements signed between the two Ministers of Hydrocarbons include annexes to the Governance and Management Agreement for the Maritime Zone of Common Interest (ZIC), facilitating bilateral cooperation in the management of maritime resources.

At the same time, the Congolese and Angolan Finance Ministers also signed a Revenue Sharing Agreement, which establishes clear guidelines on the tax obligations linked to this common area.

In his speech, the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Aimé Sakombi Molendo, underlined the importance of these agreements for the economic development of the two nations.

While highlighting the leadership of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo in promoting regional cooperation, Minister Sakombi Molendo specified that the ratification of these agreements will depend on the two Congolese and Angolan Heads of State.

It is worth emphasizing that the measures taken during this conference aim to strengthen economic relations between the DRC and Angola, with positive perspectives on their respective national budgets.

The signing of these agreements takes place in a context of growing need for cooperation between the countries of the region for effective management of natural resources and sustainable development.
