When they arrived, the police discovered Marie-Claude Raymond, who was seriously injured around 6:50 a.m. He was later pronounced dead after resuscitation attempts.

A suspect was arrested early in the morning by authorities at the crime scene. This is the victim’s spouse, who allegedly called 911. The 37-year-old man was scheduled to appear Friday evening.

The event allegedly occurred in the suspect’s condo, even though the victim had lived there for several months.

Neighbors reported hearing screams coming from the condo several times.

“It’s sad all the same because I helped him [à rentrer ses sacs d’épicerie]”, said a neighbor. “She was really nice. I don’t understand why this happened to him.”

“It’s upsetting,” another neighbor said. “We don’t expect something like this to happen close to home.”

Moreover, this was not the first time that the police had intervened at the scene of the crime.

“Since last winter, things have been brewing quite a bit,” said a neighbor. “They were arguing and the police came several times last winter.”

Patrollers had even gone to the scene earlier in the night, around 12:30 a.m. “The circumstances of this call will be scrutinized by investigators,” said Captain David Provencher of the Terrebonne police.

A large security perimeter had been erected. Investigators were dispatched to the scene to shed light on the events. The investigation continues.

This would be the eleventh feminicide in 2024 in Quebec.
