By summer 2024, the municipality of Woefling will install historical signs which will be located on two circuits of 7 and 6 km, which pass through Woefling, Wiesviller and Bliesbruck Hermeskappel.
For two years, members of the Woefling municipal council, the Archæopteryx association and local historians worked on the design of these information panels. They will be located on the two circuits, 7 and 6 km, which cross Woefling, Wiesviller and Bliesbruck Hermeskappel. The desire to renovate the crosses and calvaries of the municipal ban is at the origin of the project. For financing, it appeared that the integration of the renovation projects into an overall project to create a heritage discovery circuit would make it possible to maximize the co-financing of the renovation work on these crosses and calvaries. After the repair of the Grindkopf path and the renovation of Kuhnekritz, the municipality began the final phase of the heritage paths project with the installation of explanatory panels and the signage of the paths.
Inauguration in autumn
A total of 38 historical panels will be installed at different key points. They are written in French and German. A QR code allows you to return to the municipality’s page with more information on certain places. The municipality of Woefling became involved in this project in 2021. The financing and implementation were done by the municipality of Woefling, the historical research part by the Archæoptéryx association, the graphic design by Olivier Weissend and the creation of the supports by Graphic Agent. The cost of the project amounts to 68,000 euros excluding tax; a grant was awarded by the FEADER (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) to the tune of 50,000 euros. By summer, all the signs will be installed as well as the signage. Leaflets with the routes will be made available to walkers to discover the rich history and heritage of Woefling and the surrounding area. An inauguration will be planned for the fall during heritage days.
