The C111 is part of a family of concepts developed between 1969 and 1979. In this family, the second car is generally hailed as the most aesthetically successful. With its ahead-of-its-time aerodynamics, pop-up headlights, gullwing doors and “floating” rear pillars, many say it could have easily made it to production. This C111-II was designed by Sacco in 1970.

Mercedes 190

In 1982, Sacco signed a model which would significantly change Mercedes. The 190 seems wise and harmless, but it in turn conceals treasures of aerodynamics, among other technical advances. But above all it will considerably rejuvenate the brand’s clientele, which will then enter a new era in its history.

In 1989, the all-new Mercedes SL was downright revolutionary. Not only because it replaces a completely obsolete previous generation, launched almost 20 years earlier. Also because it is a concentrate of technology, which is not found in any luxury Grand Touring convertible of this era. Aesthetically too, the leap between the old and new SL is prodigious. Moreover, the timeless look that Sacco created for the R129 is still as attractive as ever.

If the first luxury 4×4 was indeed the Range Rover, the one that really exploded this segment was the Mercedes ML, launched in 1997, before the BMW X5 and the Porsche . Here again, Sacco’s design opens new horizons for all automobile production.
