“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death last night of Gérard Lora-Tonet, municipal councilor responsible for international relations, at the age of 75.
Within the municipal team since 2014, Gérard has fully invested in his mandate, both in exchanges with our partner cities – in particular Bad Kreuznach, but also in all of the City’s projects. His commitment as an elected official, serving his ideas and his fellow citizens, was profound and he had also been general councilor of the canton of Ambérieu-en-Bugey, from 1982 to 1994.
A lawyer, Gérard was president of the Belley bar and for a long time departmental head of road safety. Commander of the Brotherhood of Bugey, he was keen on local history.
Gérard was for all of us, for me, a friend. We will miss his presence, his experience, his keen intelligence, his humor, his voice as the lawyer that he was. I extend, on behalf of the City and on my own behalf, my most sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones and particularly his wife Charlotte.”
