Two men, known to the courts, were sentenced to a fixed sentence yesterday after visiting the fast-food restaurant on Avenue de la Gineste in the middle of the night last week.
Packs of water, a few cans of soda, a cell phone… The loot from a theft at the Burger King, avenue de la Gineste, last weekend was particularly meager. The record of the two culprits is less so. They were presented to the Rodez court this Monday.
One, aged 44, has 26 convictions and was recently released from detention. During the night from Thursday to Friday, he went to a fast food restaurant with an acquaintance. They searched the trash, looking for food, then “we saw the light,” they explained in court. A door has actually remained open, entry into the premises is free: the two accomplices do not hesitate, steal the drinks and leave… taking care to sweep up the broom!
The next day, in the afternoon, while the police heard the manager of the company about this theft, a call came to them: a man noticed people in the hedge behind the fast-food restaurant. As luck would have it, the thieves were caught quickly and confused by the American firm’s video surveillance images. “I’m really sorry, I’m sorry, it was only for water,” the eldest of the duo repeats over and over again in the box, before being sentenced to six months.
The youngest, born in 1996, received the same sentence even though the prosecutor, Émilie Passier, had only requested a suspended sentence against him. “You will have to change your attitude in the future,” the president of the audience advised him, after having corrected him several times during the debates while he laughed compulsively at each of the questions. A regular cocaine user for several months, he has been repeatedly summoned for theft. Last July, for example, he stole an electric bike, worth €4,000, on Boulevard d’Estourmel. To the question “why this flight?” », he will respond to the judge, with a smile on his lips: “I like bikes…”
