Will the mobilization be widely followed in the streets of Lyon this Tuesday October 1strike day in public services? Several unions, student organizations and left-wing parties are calling for demonstrations throughout France against the new government of Michel Barnier, against pension reform and for an increase in wages.

Prime Minister Michel Barnier must also deliver his general policy speech this afternoon before the National Assembly at 3 p.m.

The Lyon procession must leave the Manufacture des Tabacs (8th arrondissement) at 11 a.m. to reach Place Bellecour on the Presqu’île (2nd arrondissement).

11:20 a.m.: few demonstrators present

The demonstration is being prepared. Police forces are already in place and have cut several lanes of traffic, such as Cours Albert-Thomas, in the Sans-Souci district.

Ten minutes before the departure of the procession, the participants in the October 1 demonstration against the Barnier government in Lyon were not very numerous at the Tobacco Factory. They wait in the pouring rain, which has probably discouraged some.

The departure must be from the Tabac factory then the demonstrators will go down the Cours Gambetta to La Guillotière, the Guillotière bridge, the Gailleton counter-alley, the Place Antonin-Poncet to arrive at Place Bellecour.

“Traffic and parking will be disrupted along the entire route. Anticipate your travels,” warns the Rhône prefecture. The national police “will be mobilized to ensure the safety of all”.
