The Chinese military has sent eight military aircraft and two ships into the Taiwan Strait in the past 24 hours. The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense announced this with a message on X, specifying that four planes violated the air defense identification zone (Adiz). In response to Chinese military assertiveness across the Strait, the Taiwanese president’s administration Lai Ching-te pays renewed attention to strengthening civil defense capabilities.
At the first meeting of the special civil protection committee, created by Lai in June to optimize the training and mobilization of civil forces in the event of war or natural disasters, the president stressed the importance of ensuring infrastructure protection critical areas in the field of energy, logistics, health and finance in case of emergency.
