As the Israeli army has indicated, the current ground incursion into southern Lebanon is led by the 98th division, one of the best in the IDF.

It is made up of a commando brigade and paratroopers, the Arabic-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, reported on X.

In recent weeks, the soldiers who make up this division have been training in northern Israel following the approval of plans validating the ground intervention.

As Le Figaro recalls, it is this same division which in recent months has been responsible for eliminating Hamas executives and recovering Israeli hostages after the attacks of October 7.
