Who said that old people only played the lottery once every thirty-sixth of the month? Certainly not the nearly one hundred and fifty seniors gathered this Monday afternoon at Figuerolles park, at the initiative of the Municipal Center for Social Action (CCAS) for a t-shirt creation and household product manufacturing workshop. All with musical entertainment, from Joe Dassin to Dalida.
It is within the framework of the National Blue Week dedicated to the elderly that the ancestors of the region take advantage of the activities and the sun during the afternoon. The popular t-shirt making workshop with a psychedelic spiral pattern is always full. Before starting, Marianne Lagouche must wait a few minutes.
« I came up with the idea of making a Japanese pattern, or OM », she slips, smiling. “ We’ll see if I’m allowed to ! After all, that’s what I came for. » The coachwoman recognizes that “ it’s the opportunity to go out, already ! I didn’t know about Blue Week but it’s a good thing to get people out of isolation, like those who no longer drive for example. » This while several people arrive by minibus. The CCAS, organizer of the event, also thought about transport, particularly for users of the city’s restaurant clubs and homes for the elderly.
Because as Lise Rozes Ferrières, responsible for CCAS activities, says, “ with the increase in the cost of living we have more and more people coming to see us “. To give you an idea, “ in the month of May, there are ten thousand more meals compared to last year “. From this comes the idea of offering free activities, like these workshops, but also gymnastics classes, for example.
