The suspect, aged around 30, had been identified by investigators and had been on the run since Saturday. He went to the police station early in the afternoon, accompanied by his lawyer, this source told AFP, confirming information from L’Est Républicain.

The attacker, identified and known to the justice system, initially fled. At the origin of the brawl, “a family dispute which degenerated” indicate several sources.

Placed in police custody, the interview of the suspect, who belongs to the victim’s “family circle”, was still in progress at the end of the afternoon.

The attack took place shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening, rue d’Oslo, west of Belfort, away from the center. During an altercation, the victim, born in 1980, received at least one stab wound. Treated by emergency services, she died shortly after.

She had a significant wound on her thigh. An autopsy was ordered.
