Christophe had nevertheless warned us (all first names have been changed Editor’s note). “What is happening right now is a scandal“, this resident of Les Ombrées, in Martigues, alerted last week on the telephone, as if upset. Before continuing, with the same indignation in his voice: “It’s an environmental massacre, there is no other word.“Faced with our questions, and despite a dismay that he still struggles to contain today, the young retiree then came to his senses, providing the editorial team with more elements of context.

For a few days now, a Marseille company mandated by the social landlord Logirem, has been carrying out – according to the information note displayed at the entrance to the residence – a banal “pruning“. A simple intervention, therefore, aimed at clearing the way before installing scaffolding; a preliminary step with a view to insulating the facades of some 109 buildings.

“The pruners razed everything”

But according to Christophe, who in recent days has become the spokesperson for all the angry tenants of Les Ombrées, the result is nothing more and nothing less than a disaster. “The pruners razed everything. We had oleanders. Massacred. Magnificent cypresses. Massacred. (…) All that remains is mud and stoneshe depicts. It looks like a war landscape.“Strong words, which the disgusted retiree accepts without trembling. So, has the pruning turned into carnage as Christophe claims?
