Exceptional weather: golden deals for Quebec golf courses in September

The extremely rare drops of rain and the warm weather allowed the various golf clubs in the Quebec region to extend their high season by a few weeks in September.

“Until the closure in October, we are practically full for available departures. Several people have told us that it makes you want to renew your subscription,” rejoices the general director of the Lorette Golf Club, Archy Donald Beaudry.

Whether private or public, all the golf courses surveyed by The Journal claim to have had significant traffic in recent weeks.

“You can count the number of days it rained on the fingers of one hand,” says the general director of the Royal Québec Golf Club, Mario Bouchard. It’s extraordinary for our members and it allows us to maximize our subscriptions.”

The Club, which is celebrating its 150the anniversary in 2024, was able to celebrate its history under radiant sunshine in the last few weeks.

“September is always good in recent years, but 2024 is exceptional. Let’s just say it worked out very well for us!”

Increasing

At Golf de la Faune, the administration maintains that the number of players teeing off is increasing in September 2024 compared to previous years.

“I don’t have the official statistics because they haven’t been counted yet, but it bodes very well. On the ground, we see that the people are there, and the sun helps us,” says the general director, Cynthia Laflamme, adding that the quality of the ground is exceptional.

For the director of Golf Le , Claude Langlois, the month which is ending has made it possible to compensate for a start to the season tainted by closures due to rain.

“In May and June, we experienced more difficult days and we even had to close on certain days. In addition, we were doing work and we only had 17 holes. It feels good to have more people,” he explains.

Cross your fingers

While the closure of their greens is planned for the last weeks of October, the managements with whom we were able to speak are crossing their fingers that the coming month will be as profitable as the previous one.

“We want to finish strong. It would be incredible to be able to maintain the same quality of golf for such a long time,” concludes Mario Bouchard.
