As in many sports clubs, the number of licensees has exploded at Istres Sport Natation. The “2024 Olympic Games” effect is undeniable.
“It’s the Olympics effect and the Léon Marchand effect too! This year, we’re off to a very strong start. We’re already at 234 licensees, compared to 150 at the end of September 2023.” Noël Goasdoué, president of Istres Sport Natation, was this morning the guest of our new column “It’s my club” (at 6:20 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. on maritima radio).
He notes that this year “there are a lot of young people aged 8-10 who want to take up swimming. The progress of the Olympic Games challenged them, they now dream of following the same path as Léon Marchand, quadruple gold medalist in Paris. There are also little ones who come to discover it. It’s a choice that also pleases parents. Some are reassured to see their child learn to swim, others have the objective of bringing them to competition.”
Tomorrow, the Vitrolles badminton club will be in the spotlight in “C’est mon Club”. If you too would like to talk about your sports club on maritima radio you can send us an email to [email protected]
