While Lavalette has just received the 1st prize for “Villes et villages fleurs de la Haute-Garonne” for the fifth consecutive time in the category of municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants, a group of volunteers got up early to indulge in a “fresh” planting session.

Around twenty amateur gardeners armed with hoes, shovels, rakes, claws and other weeders were guided by Marcelle and Claude Fiore on the communal beds and green spaces.

Even though they left Lavalette more than a year ago, in order to be closer to their family in the Gers, Marcelle and Claude never miss an opportunity to return to their favorite village, bringing together the inhabitants around these sessions. of plantations. “Marcelle and Claude are still at work. They are fantastic! They were there from 7:30 a.m.,” says Mayor André Fontès. A morning to guarantee spring colors in the village of 800 souls. “This morning, we are planting begonias, butterfly lavenders, gaillardias, geraniums… This represents around 700 plants. We were planting many more previously, but given that we had also planted perennial flowers last year, we are not “So we don’t need to replace them”, explains Marcelle.
