She moved to the Odyssée business incubator in Saint-Malo in January 2024. The company R Systems, founded in 2019 in Besançon (), opened a branch in the Saint-Malo city to develop its system for preventing shocks between boats and the seabed. Interview with its president Erwan Allené.

Bleu Armorique: Does this kind of collision happen often?
Erwan Allené : It’s more common than you think. When we did our market research before development, we went to see insurance brokers and it turns out that tailgating, as it is called, is the second cause of accidents that they deal with. .

FBA: How does this electronic shock prevention system work?
Erwan Allené: We calculate in real time the height of available water above the shallow seabed up to 500 meters in front of the boat. It is this height of water which will determine whether a boat can pass or whether its hull will hit a rock. It is an independent electronic box which contains the digitized seabed database, atmospheric pressure sensors, a screen and an audible buzzer which is activated in the event of a threat of collision. The system is completely autonomous.

FBA: Who are you targeting with this technology?
Erwan Allené: Pleasure boating, motor or sailing boats. We exclude anything that is merchant or military marine but it is ideal for pleasure boats which do coastal navigation, therefore close to stones.

FBA: This is a technology that you have already developed for helicopters…
Erwan Allené: Quite. This involves avoiding electrical cables, and therefore EDF lines. The idea is the same. We developed and installed a database of power lines, wind turbines and cable cars in the mountains. It is connected to a bracelet that vibrates when danger approaches.

FBA: What price for this anti-shock case?
Erwan Allené: 790 euros. According to insurers, the average cost of repairs for tailgating is 6,000 euros.
We plan to officially launch marketing at the end of May.
